Senior Software Engineer, Aggregation & Search

The engineering team at Chainalysis is inspired by solving the hardest technical challenges and creating products that build trust in cryptocurrencies. We’re a global organization with teams in Denmark, UK, Canada, the USA who thrive on the challenging work we do and doing it with other exceptionally talented teammates. Our industry changes every day and our job is to create user facing products supported by a flexible and scalable data platform allowing us to adapt to those rapid changes and bring value to our customers.

Chainalysis has become known as the leader in blockchain investigation and compliance software. Our products have built trust in blockchains by taking down terrorist financing campaigns https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/cryptocurrency-terrorism-financing-al-qaeda-al-qassam-brigades-bitcointransfer, disrupting major ransomware operations https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/netwalker-ransomware-disruption-arrest, identifying the Twitter hackers https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/chainalysis-doj-twitter-hack-2020, and more.

We are building the data platform https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/series-f/ for blockchain, cryptocurrency, and web3. We’re looking to bring onboard a Senior Software Engineer with deep PostgreSQL and Java Spring Boot experience who executes high-impact projects and is excited about building at a significant scale!

In this role, you’ll:

- Own and improve our data ingest Java service for enriched transfers generation and aggregations.

- Design and tune PostgreSQL transaction batching, indexing, and replication strategies.

- Contribute to the next-generation architecture. The team is evaluating a wide stack of cutting edge technologies. You will run PoCs, benchmark latency, and write ADRs and contribute to delivering the next generation to PROD.

- Build and maintain scalable API services on AWS that handle thousands of requests per second

- Help automate network onboarding end-to-end.

- Debug production issues across microservices, define SLOs, and participate in the on-call rotation

- Integrate LLM-based tools into daily engineering work and build agentic automation for operational tasks: automated incident triage, self-healing pipelines, and intelligent alerting

We’re looking for candidates who have:

- 8+ years with PostgreSQL in production: schema design, query optimization, partitioning, replication, and performance tuning under write-heavy, high-throughput workloads

- 8+ years building Java Spring Boot services: REST APIs, JDBC, connection pooling, and JVM performance profiling

- Experience with Kafka or equivalent streaming systems: consumer groups, offset management, and partition lag debugging

- Track record operating distributed systems on AWS: microservices, multi-silo deployments, Terraform

- Strong cross-system debugging skills: tracing a serving delay from a Datadog metric to a Humio log to a code path

- Comfort with AI-assisted development and agentic engineering practices

- A bias to ship and iterate alongside product and design partners

- A genuine excitement for significantly scaling large data systems

- Interest in the cryptocurrency

AI at Chainalysis

AI is not a feature at Chainalysis - it is a new way of working. One that turns instructions into work done, and helps us move faster than the threats we're built to counter, and we expect our employees to take ownership of the output and ensure quality. As the world's most trusted blockchain analytics platform, Chainalysis sits at a rare intersection of proprietary data, regulatory relationships and crypto expertise that makes it uniquely placed to shape and lead the next era of AI-driven intelligence - and we expect everyone here, regardless of role, to be an active part of it.

AI fluency is tied directly to how we measure performance and how we plan to win. There is no substitute for your own curiosity. We provide the tools, workflows, and space to experiment - but the expectation is that you develop these capabilities yourself, bring ideas, and collaborate across teams to reinvent the way work gets done. We are not using AI to do less. We are using it to do what was never possible before.
